Nazi Zombies

Nazi Zombies is, in my opinion, the best game mode for Call of Duty. Nazi Zombies is a game mode first featured in Call of Duty: World at War, and it continued on in Call of Duty: Black Ops. The Nazi Zombie game mode is about how four players can survive in endless rounds of increasingly difficult zombie waves. In World at War, there was only a single zombie map called Nacht Der Untoten, which is German for Night of the Undead.

There were three following map packs after World at War was released, each consisting of four multiplayer maps and one Nazi Zombie map. The first Nazi Zombie map was called Verruckt, which would translate to Crazy in English. Verruckt takes place in an insane asylum overtaken by the zombie outbreak. Both maps, Nacht Der Untoten and Verruckt, were created before they added the story’s main characters Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, Takeo Masaki, and Edward Richtofen. They don't come into the main storyline until the third map pack, Shi No Numa.

Shi No Numa is the only map to be named in Japanese. It means Zombie Swamp in Japanese. All of the other zombie maps are either named in German or English, excluding the Shangri La map, which does not have translation as it is a city. Shi No Numa is the first map that has a new type of round in it, Dog Rounds, which consists of demon hounds sent after you excluding zombies from that round. The rest of the maps all have a Pack-a-Punch machine in them, which strengthens your firearms capabilities.

The remaining maps are Der Reise, which means The Giant in German, Kino Der Toten, which translates to Theater of the Dead, Five, which takes place at the Pentagon in the zombie apocalypse, Dead Ops Arcade, which is an old coin machine style zombie game in a third person view, Ascension, which is located at a Soviet Cosmonaut construction area and features for the first time monkey rounds. The next zombie map is Call of the Dead, placed on a movie set in Siberia and features guest characters Sarah Michelle Gellar, Danny Trejo, Robert Englund, and Michael Rooker. The next two maps are Shangri La and Moon. Moon is the newest zombie map and is so far the final installment of the Nazi Zombie maps. My favorite map is Der Reise, seconded by Moon, because Der Reise is the first map to feature the Pack-a-Punch machine and that changes the gameplay completely.
